Hi, I'm Eben.

What I Do

About Eben

A Bit About Me

I am the CEO and co-founder Ecovative. I use biology to create disruptive solutions that are good for people and the planet. I have evangelized a strategy of bio-adaption around the world, including presentations at TED Global, PopTech, and The World Economic Forum in Davos.

I am also interested in augmentative neuro-systems, thermodynamics, education, and monetary systems modeled around life. I serve on the external advisory board of the ASU Origins project, the business board of Tech Valley High School, and advises start-ups in and around New York.

I studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where I received dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Innovation & Design. For the 18 years prior, I studied agriculture and farming through hands on learning at my family farm in central Vermont.

About Ecovative

In 2007 I Co-Founded Ecovative With Gavin McIntyre

Ecovative is a material science company developing a new class of home-compostable bioplastics based on mycelium, a living organism. Mushroom Materials are high-performance, environmentally responsible alternatives to traditional plastic foam packaging, insulation, and other synthetic materials.

Speaking

I’ve been fortunate to participate in great events all around the world; I speak at these events for three reasons:

1) To share the idea’s that I find exciting and potentially useful to the world
2) To inspire others, in solving real problems through science, engineering, and entrepreneurship
3) To generate resources for Rock Mtn Power LLC, an entity that explores off grid and alternative power systems useful for resilient living.
